OVERVIEW
V.O.I.C.E. (Vision Often Inspired Cause of Experience) a program of Keen Ideas Consulting LLC, managed by Beyond The Valley Foundation, is a resident‑driven program designed to ensure that the people who live in the community help lead the work and initiatives that take place in their community.
Through V.O.I.C.E., residents bring their lived experience, insight, and ideas to the table to inform programs, policies, and investments that impact their neighborhoods.
Simple concept: Nothing about us, without us.
V.O.I.C.E
Who Is V.O.I.C.E For?
V.O.I.C.E. is designed for:
-
Residents who care about their block, building, or neighborhood and want their voices heard
-
Community leaders (formal and informal) already doing work on the ground
-
Partner organizations that want authentic resident input to guide their programs
-
Local leaders and decision-makers who are committed to equity, inclusion, and shared power
You do not need a title, degree, or “perfect” background. Your experience is your expertise.
How Does V.O.I.C.E Work?
V.O.I.C.E. creates a structured way for residents to shape community work:
-
Listen: Residents share their experiences, challenges, and ideas through listening sessions, circles, and conversations
-
Co‑Design: Residents work alongside partners to shape priorities, solutions, and strategies
-
Advise: Residents provide ongoing feedback on programs, investments, and initiatives as they roll out
-
Lead: Residents have opportunities to lead projects, host conversations, and champion change in their neighborhoods
Programs, projects, and decisions are informed by real voices, real stories, and real needs.
V.O.I.C.E. turns experience into action!!
Why V.O.I.C.E Matters.
Communities are strongest when residents are not just consulted but centered.
V.O.I.C.E:
-
Honors lived experience as expertise, not an afterthought
-
Closes the gap between decision-makers and the realities of everyday life
-
Builds trust between residents, organizations, and institutions
-
Improves results by grounding strategies in real stories, needs, and solutions
When residents help design the work, the work actually makes sense.
